Biography

Ellen obtained her master's degree in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy with a specialisation in neurological disorders in 2020 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. Before that, she obtained a master in Medicine and practiced as a general practitioner. 

Her main domain of interest is post-stroke fatigue and its relation to recovery, with a focus on the role of sleep, inflammation, and physical activity. In November 2020 she started her PhD under the supervision of prof. dr. Eva Swinnen (Rehabilitation Research Group, RERE), prof. dr. David Beckwée (RERE and Frailty in Ageing Research Group, FRIA), prof. dr. Dirk Aerenhouts (Movement & Nutrition for Health & Performance Research Group, MOVE), and prof. dr. Rose Njemini (FRIA).
